Sanvi's POV:
Just as I was ready to meet my prince charming and take over the world in my dream world, my alarm went off, startling me out of slumber.
I can't even get up early, so I woke up after the tenth alarm. I got ready for college and went downstairs.
"Good morning my favourite people." I greeted to my parents.
My dad is reading the newspaper while my mother is filing the lunch boxes for me and my brother.
"Nashta kar le jaldi varna late hojayegi Sanu." My mother said. (Have your breakfast or else you will be late)
I nodded and started munching the lip-smacking breakfast.
"I hope you all remember what we have to do today, right?" My dad said.
"Of course." My mom replied while me and my brother, Anshuman, looking at them dumbfoundedly.
"Lo... Inn bhullakado ko kuch yaad hi nahi rehta sivay faltu cheezo ke." My mum said to us.
(These forgetfuls do not remember anything except useless things.)
"But what is it today? What we have to do anyways?" My brother said.
"Anshu... Sanu... We've to go to Anjana's engagement venue today." My dad said.
"But Anju di's engagement is tomorrow." I replied.
"Yes, but today we've to make some arrangements." My mum said.
"Like...?" I replied.
"Like checking the whole decorations are upto our expectations or not." My dad said.
"But Ankit chacha said he will take care of it." Anshuman said.
"I know but as his elder sibling, it's my responsibility to participate in all the arrangements of my niece's engagement ceremony and wedding ceremony." My dad said.
"Tumhare Ankit chacha ki shaadi pehle hui. Varna kal Anju ke badle teri engagement ho rahi hoti aur tere Ankit chacha bhi jor-shor se madad karte saari arrangements mein. Samjhi." My mum said while looking at me.
(Your Ankit uncle's marriage took place earlier. Otherwise tomorrow your engagement would have taken place instead of Anju and your uncle Ankit would also helped vigorously in all the arrangements. Understood.)
"Didi, magar koi tumse pyar kyun karega?" Anshuman said teasingly.
(Sister, but why would anyone love you anyways?)
"Chappal dikh raha yeh? Aisa padega na muh pe, beta... Pagal dikhta phirega pure din." I replied.
(Do you see these slippers? Once it lands on your face, you'll look like a mad person for the rest of the day.)
He gulped and mouthed sorry to me.
"Quiet. Now i hope you both got the reminder so i expect you both to come back home in the afternoon and then we'll go to the engagement venue. Okay?" My dad said and we nodded in agreement.
We left for the college.
Vedarth's POV:
"Uth ja beta subah hogayi kabki." My mother said. (Wake up son, it's morning already.)
"Mummy yarr, Just 5 minutes more." I replied while covering my face with blanket.
"Nope. Not at all." My mom said and i whined still not up yet.
"See Dr. Jayvardhan is calling." Mom said and i woke up instantly, frantically searching for my phone.
"Where's my phone? Why isn't it ringing? Mummy give me my phone." I said hastily.
My mother started laughing and I looked at her dumbfoundedly.
Soon realization hit me and i looked at her with narrowing my eyes.
"Seriously Ma? You gonna play like this?" I asked her in disbelief.
"It's the only way to wake you up instantly. I'm sorry though." She said while still laughing.
I shook my head and smiled at her.
"Don't be sorry. Chill." I replied.
"Acha... I hope you remember that you've to go to Rishabh's engagement venue to check the arrangements." My mother said.
"Of course. I've talked to Jayvardhan sir that today I'll leave early and tomorrow I'm taking a day-off from work. But still i can't be sure with day-off, if they need me for anything then I've to go. Patients comes first." I replied.
"I know son... And I'm proud of you for being such a deligent and responsible doctor. No wonder why everyone loves and admires you at work." Mom said with extreme proud.
I smiled at her while she caressed my hair.
"Ek tu hai itna mehnati aur ek yeh dekho tumhara bhai.... Raghav uth jaa. Puri duniya uth gayi aur sab kaam pe jaa rahe sirf tere sivay." Mom said. (You are so hardworking and here is your brother. Raghav get up. The whole world has woken up and everyone is going to work except you.)
"Han toh main kaam thodi na karta hun Maa. Main toh student hun na. Sone do yaar." Radhav, my younger sibling, replied still being half-asleep. (Yes, I don't do any work, Mom. I am a student, am I not? Let me sleep.)
"Aise banega tu lawyer? Aise sudharega tu Desh ki justice system ko? Hein?" Mom said and i smirked at him.(Will you become a lawyer like this? Will you improve the justice system of the country, this way? Hm?)
"Mummy... No...." He whined while we both laughed.
"Uth jaa bhai... Ratko chamgadad banke phone use karte waqt toh neend yaad nahi aati tujhe aur ab uthte waqt tujhe badi neend aarhi." I said teasingly. (Get up, brother... You don't remember sleep while using the phone as a bat at night and now you are very sleepy while waking up.)
"Chup reh sale." He replied. (Shut up.)
I laughed and threw a cushion at him.
"Now come on both of you, get ready and come downstairs. I'll make your breakfasts ready by then." Mom said and exited our room.
Sanvi's POV :
After college, I came home, changed into a light pastel kurti, and tied my hair up in a loose braid. The weather was warm, and I knew if I showed up looking like a wilted marigold, my mom would have a meltdown in the middle of the venue.
We reached the venue around 5 p.m. The decorators were running around with ladders, flowers, and fairy lights like they were trying to win a reality show. Dad got busy on calls, Anshuman sneakily disappeared with cold drinks, and mom gave me a mission:
“Check the floral archways near the entrance. They better not have used plastic roses again.”
The venue was lit up like a dream. Ivory drapes, cascading marigold garlands, and fairy lights wrapped around pillars like sparkling vines—it was everything Anju di wanted.
I was adjusting a flower arrangement near the entrance when my phone buzzed. It was Mehak.
“Sanvi! Come fast, yaar. The DJ is losing it. The speakers aren't working and he’s threatening to leave,” she said, panic in her voice.
“Oh no. Okay, okay. I’m coming right now,” I assured her.
As I turned to head out, I realized I’d have to cut through the outer corridor. My sandals clicked hurriedly against the floor, my anklets softly chiming with every step. I didn't notice when one side came loose and slipped from my ankle.
I was too distracted, holding my phone tight against my ear, trying to calm Mehak down. “Tell him we’re arranging backup... just don’t let him leave!”
My dupatta trailed behind me, and I didn't even glance back.
Vedarth's POV:
I had just stepped out of the car when I saw someone dart past.
She was a blur of pastel and shimmer, her voice rising above the chaos—confident yet rushed.
“Tell him we’re arranging backup... just don’t let him leave!” she said into her phone.
There was something captivating about her energy. Something... heartwarming, even though I hadn’t seen her face.
Then I saw it—a silver anklet slipping from her foot, landing gently on the stone floor with a soft tinkle. She didn’t notice.
“Excuse me!” I called out, walking toward her and picking it up.
She didn’t hear me. Her phone was still glued to her ear, her pace quickening.
I looked down at the anklet in my hand—delicate, with tiny heart-shaped bells that jingled faintly. I didn’t know her name, but somehow, I knew this wouldn’t be the last time I saw her.
I slipped the anklet into my pocket.
Just in case fate had plans.
*****************************
And just like that, fate dropped its first clue.
An anklet—simple, delicate, and forgotten in haste—now rested in the pocket of a man who didn’t even know her name.
She was too caught up in chaos to look back.
He was too intrigued to look away.
But what happens when two lives—so different, so distant—unknowingly begin orbiting each other?
Was it mere coincidence?
Or was this the universe’s subtle way of introducing two hearts that didn’t even realize they were about to collide?
Only time will tell...
And maybe, just maybe, that tiny jingling anklet might hold the answers.
Until next time—
With love,
